Virtual Learning EnvironmentScience

Science stimulates and excites pupils’ curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them.
It also satisfies their curiosity with knowledge. Because science links direct practical experience with ideas,
it can engage learners at many levels.

Through science, pupils understand how major scientific ideas contribute to technological change – impacting
on industry, business and medicine and improving the quality of life. They learn to question and discuss
science-based issues that may affect their own lives, the direction of society and the future of the world.

We believe that all pupils at WPS must have regular access to Science appropriate to their age and stage of development and that emphasis should be given to this as a ‘core’ subject.

Through the teaching of Science throughout the school we aim to work towards fulfilling the requirements of the National Curriculum and the EYFS whilst adapting its requirements where necessary to accommodate cross-curricular projects.
