Den Building

Our Early Years pupils did not let the fierce wind stop them from having a fantastic morning building dens.  It was pleasing to see the children working together to build their dens, all of which stood the test of Storm Gareth!

Learning in an outdoor environment has a profound impact on intellectual, physical, spiritual, social and moral development. It also helps to build self-confidence and self-esteem. Outdoor education also helps improve problem solving skills, enhances teamwork, and helps children develop important leadership and communication skills.

Due to the windy conditions, children used large pegs to hold the tarpaulin and camouflage nets up. Using this equipment not only helped keep the dens from collapsing in the wind, but also helped develop the pupils’ fine motor skills.

Well done to all the children who took part this exciting den building activity – it was definitely a morning to remember!
