Football Legend opens new astro turf pitch

England and Manchester United football legend, Wes Brown, took the first penalty kick on our brand new astro turf pitch earlier this month.

The installation of the new astro turf facility at the School’s sports hall is part of a major development project which has bolstered the multi-purpose sports area to help cater for the Prep’s busy sports programme.

The fabulous new pitch was completed over the summer in time for the start of the new term in September. The multipurpose astro turf pitch is a valuable addition to the School’s facilities and gives our pupils more space for PE classes and athletics training plus it has the added benefit of being used for popular after school activities such as football and hockey.

Commenting on the new astro turf pitch, Headteacher, Helen Rigby, said: “It was super of Wes to join us for this memorable occasion, and all of us at WPS are thankful for the time he took out of his busy life to show his support.

“Sport is seen as a very important part of our overall curriculum here at Wilmslow Prep and the children are thrilled to be using our new pitch.”
