Over the past few weeks, pupils have been doing plenty of investigative work in Science, exploring the role of the stem, measuring direction and strength of the wind, and testing the strength of paper.
In Form 3, pupils are in the middle of discovering how a stem works, and predicted the celery leaves will turn red, proving that stems transport water to the leaves.
Form 3 experimenting with stems:
Recently, Form 2 have been testing the strength of paper. Pupils have been examining what type of paper, and specifically, what shape of paper, made the strongest bridge.

They also tested different materials to build a house for different animals, which was linked to the 3 Little Pigs story.
Mrs Connolly, Science Teacher & co-ordinator says, “Through our Science lessons, we ensure that pupils develop scientific knowledge, vocabulary and an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science, undertaking experiments and enquiries in order to answer scientific questions about the world around them.”
