Children from across the school enjoyed a successful year at the 108th Alderley Edge Festival, a long-standing celebration of excellence in music, speech and drama.
Pupils excelled across both Speech & Drama and Music categories, achieving an impressive number of placements and showcasing remarkable confidence and skill on stage.
In Speech & Drama, children competed across 12 classes and secured 16 top three finishes, while in Music, 14 entries across 6 classes resulted in 9 pupils achieving 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, including two first-place awards. Younger pupils were also part of the experience, with Reception children taking part in a non-competitive class, gaining valuable early performance experience.
Across the festival, pupils demonstrated expressive storytelling, strong technical ability and a willingness to perform with confidence and creativity. Highlights included multiple top three finishes in poetry and reading classes across year groups, reflecting both depth of talent and consistency of performance.
The Gala events provided further memorable moments, with the Gala Finale opened by one of the school’s pianists, while another child sang in the Gala Concert. In a fitting conclusion, the Finale was closed by a former pupil, now progressing to study singing at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music.
Headteacher Bradley Lavagna-Slater said: “We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who took part in this year’s festival. Their enthusiasm, dedication and courage to perform on stage were evident throughout. Events like this not only celebrate talent but also help to build confidence and resilience that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.”
Well done to all pupils who took part!
