Sharon completes the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge for charity

Sharon Davies, Wilmslow Prep School’s Bursar, completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge in support of Torie Fraser-Jung, a friend and daughter of an alumni of Wilmslow Prep School.

Torie was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last Christmas, and her father, in the spirit of positivity, organised the sponsored walk for Monday, 18th June.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge is a UK trekking challenge, designed to test people’s endurance, strength and teamwork. Sharon was part of a 23 member team and they all completed the tough challenge, climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Roughly translated, 26 miles, 3 peaks, 5,200 feet of ascent, 12 hours!

The group are raising money for two charities; the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer Trust and Cancer Research UK – the aim being to contribute to the research and prevention of cancer as well as supporting those affected by thyroid cancer.

Sharon completed the trek in just over 10 hours in the true WPS style of excellence – with grit, determination, and a smile. She said:  “Torie is an extraordinary young lady who managed to complete the challenge while still recuperating from her thyroid cancer operation. The fact she did it all is staggering, and it just goes to show how much strength she has to combat her cancer.”
