Wilmslow Prep Celebrates European Day of Languages

Wilmslow Prep was delighted to celebrate the European Day of Languages, with a wonderful day of activities designed to inspire our children to discover and enjoy different languages and cultures from across Europe.

The celebrations were led by our French teacher, Madame Marechal, with fantastic support from visiting language students from Fallibroome Academy. Their enthusiasm and knowledge helped bring the day to life and gave our children the opportunity to explore languages in a fun and engaging way.

The day began with a lively special assembly. The children enjoyed a French edition of ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’, putting their language skills, and actions to the test! They also learnt how to say hello in a range of different European languages, discovering just how many ways there are to greet someone.

Adding to the excitement, the children were invited to celebrate European culture through their clothing. There was a wonderful array of European-inspired dress, with the girls in particular embracing the occasion with some beautifully colourful hair decorations.

It was also great to see that the teachers were more than happy to join in the fun! Staff embraced the opportunity to dress up for the occasion, with Headteacher Mr Slater particularly enjoying getting into the European spirit, joined by Mrs Broome and Mrs Milne!.

Throughout the day, children took part in a variety of language and cultural activities, developing their understanding of the different countries, traditions and languages that make up Europe. .

Our talented catering team also got involved in the celebrations, preparing a delicious European-inspired lunch of Italian meatballs and Greek salad for the children to enjoy.

A huge thank you to Madame Marechal and the visiting students for helping to make the day such a memorable experience!
