KEY STAGE 1 (YEARS 1 & 2) – A TIME OF GREAT INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT From five to seven years of age, our Key Stage 1 pupils progress throughYears 1 and 2. During these years, pupils rapidly develop their learning skills, advancing in numeracy, literacy and science, all of which open up new possibilities in the acquisition of knowledge. In particular, improved literacy skills promote the pleasures of independent reading. The children’s horizons continue to be broadened by specialist teachers for MFL, ICT, PE, music, art and drama. Activities outside the pure academic curriculum encourage pupils to gain greater independence, and participation and enjoyment of after-school activities add to their capabilities and self-confidence.
