Science

Science stimulates and excites pupils’ curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. It also satisfies their curiosity with knowledge.

Through science, pupils understand how major scientific ideas contribute to technological change – impacting on industry, business and medicine and improving the quality of life.

At WPS, we believe that all pupils must have regular access to Science, both in the classroom and outdoors, appropriate to their age and stage of development and that emphasis should be given to this as a ‘core’ subject. Through our Science lessons, we ensure that the pupils develop scientific knowledge, vocabulary and an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science, undertaking experiments and enquiries in order to answer scientific questions about the world around them.

They learn to question and discuss science-based issues that may affect their own lives, the direction of society and the future of the world.
